Can we have a Margarita and declare Self-Love? This is not the kind of question usually asked when discussing the Law of Attraction. Unless you are a true pagan, this is not a discussion we would typically embark on when talking about our ability to materialize our dreams. Bear with me.

To Love or Hate

I’m not perfect—that’s putting it lightly. I have so many character flaws and commit so many tiny indiscretions daily. It’s pretty obvious I will never be perfect.

One of the first rules of the law of attraction is that you must love yourself first. If we don’t love ourselves, we don’t deserve whatever we’re attempting to materialize. So, how do I get around this? Can I love myself despite my imperfections? How do I deal with this seemingly massive wall?

Every time I ponder this issue, a phrase comes to mind: “I am not perfect; I am perfectly human.” Just saying that brings up a sense of compassion for myself, and compassion truly is the key. Every time I say that phrase, I feel liquid love pouring through me. I recognize that I’m okay.
Acts of self-love can be minuscule. If I do something I know isn’t cool, I sigh and say I love you; you’ll get this.

Seemingly insignificant tasks, the kind we all have to do, give an opportunity for self-love. Taking a bath, going outside, feeding the dogs, and cooking dinner are all opportunities for self-love. All I have to do is choose to see them as such. I’m fixing this incredible dinner as an act of self-love towards myself. I’m standing on these sacred grounds looking at this incredible oak tree because I love myself. I am feeding the dogs, which brings me great joy as an act of self-love.

One Margarita

Trust me, there are many things I do where I have to say, well I don’t have to say it, but I do, “b**** you gotta clean your s*** up.” When I say that to myself I usually stop and say, “Thank you, we have a ways to go. I’m choosing to love myself.” Sometimes, that has power; sometimes, it’s just something I say because I’m supposed to. But if I take a moment and really get into it, I can cancel that negative thought and choose the positive one.

Every positive thought counters three negative thoughts. So, it becomes a matter of math. If I’m feeling guilty because I had a margarita or I was exceptionally b***** to my significant other, I can go to, “I am not perfect; I am perfectly human. Again, it’s a matter of choice. If I make that choice three times, does that negate the one margarita? Even one margarita is an act of self-love. It used to be three margaritas or four on an exceptionally out-of-control day.

We all have opportunities to love ourselves and allow ourselves to materialize our dreams. It’s a matter of choice to take those opportunities.
